Abstract

We studied breeding and nesting behaviour of endemic terai tree frog, Polypedates taeniatus in Uttar Pradesh state of India. We describe amplexus, spawning, unique ground nesting behaviour and larval developmental stages of the species. A comparative reproductive behaviour of foam nesting rhacophorids from India is provided. The present study emphasize conservation of this obligate grassland species in the Terai Arc Landscape.
